A most memorable and mesmerizing musical ballet by Sangeet Abhinay Academy of Mumbai directed by well-known musician Rev. Fr. Dr. Charles Vaz on the occasion of Daivik Amrith Decennial Celebration.
 
Daivik Amrith is a Konkani monthly magazine published from Mangaluru and widely read by Catholics of Mangaluru and Udupi Diocese. Recently Daivik Amrith completed 10 years successfully and on the occasion a classical musical program was organized by the managing committee at the open ground of Cordel Church in Mangaluru on Sunday 21st February 2016.


The grand event began with lighting of the traditional lamp by Rev. Fr. Victor Machado accompanied by Rev. Fr. Andrew D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Charles Vaz, Rev. Fr. Boniface Pinto, and Mr. Santhosh Lobo followed by a prayer dance performance by academy members.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Fr. Andrew D’Souza accorded a hearty welcome and thanked each and everyone who were involved in organizing the grand event. He thanked especially to Fr. Victor Machado for providing the Cordel Parish ground for the program, the parishioners for their whole hearted support and Fr. Charles Vaz and his troupe for consenting to provide a musical extravaganza and all the priests, nuns and general who attended in large numbers.
 
A beautiful Goan Mando was presented prior to the stage program which enthralled the audience.
 
On the occasion Rev. Fr. Dr. Valerian Mendonsa (Parish Priest – Barkoor and Chancellor Udupi Diocese) was honored by Fr. Charles Vaz for his mammoth contribution to Music, songs and numerous hymns composition and singing. He was presented with a shawl, fruit basket and a citation by the guests on the dais namely Mr. Clifford D’Souza, Mr. John D’Silva, Mr. Pius Vaz, Mr. Masood Ahmed, Fr. Andrew D’Souza and Fr. On the auspicious occasion Daivik Amrith felicitated Fr. Charles Vaz for his contribution to the classical music performances and composition of hundreds of songs and bringing out numerous CDs musical hymns in various languages mainly in Hindi, Konkani and Marati. He was honoured with a citation, a traditional shawl and fruit and flowers on the occasion.
 
Mr. Santhosh Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.
The final item of the event was a most mesmerizing musical ballet titled “Prem Ragini" based on biblical theme beginning of creation of world and Adam and Eve.
 
The audience watched the wonderful performances by Sangeet Academy members in a pin drop silence and the dances, performances were amazing. The Prem Ragini is Love of God to his people even though Adam and Eve sinned against God; he brought salvation to the mankind through His only bellowed son Jesus.
 
The grand musical ballet ended with the introduction of all troupe members by Director of Sangeet Abhinay Academy Fr. Charles Vaz.
